Hamilton Reveals a Trio of Stunning ‘Panda’ Style Chronographs

Few things celebrate the American ethos better than the open road. While we may not have invented the automobile, the idea of speeding down the blacktop, the wind whipping through your hair, feels injected with stars and stripes. Frames of Peter Fonda in Easy Rider almost automatically race through your head. Hamilton–which may have been America’s last great watch manufacturer–is celebrating this with the release of their new Intra-Matic Auto Chrono.

The new Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chrono takes inspiration from the open road and 1969–the year the American brand headed to Switzerland, Richard Nixon entered the White House, and Easy Rider hit theaters. It was also the dawn of New Hollywood and the year Hamilton unveiled its first automatic chronograph, which instantly became an icon of the silver screen. The distinctive black-and-white “panda” design revealed in the original, where two black sub dials were set against a white face are once again celebrated in this latest addition.

However, things are a bit different this time around and the new Intra-Matic’s case features black as its primary color with contrasting white indexes used throughout all three versions of the watch. White, electric yellow, and orange variations are available, with the later two offering striking pops of color in the chronograph hand, tachymeter, and perforations in the black calf leather strap. An anticorrosive PVD coating covers the 40mm case as well as the strap buckle, while 100 meters of water resistance means you shouldn’t be worried about taking into the shower or with you, no matter the weather. It also features a 28-jewel movement and 60-hour power reserve.It is priced at $2,425 and can be purchased via the brand’s official website.
